The Principality of WalesWales is a small principality on the southwest side of England. Since the 16th Century it has been a part of the United Kingdom, which also includes England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Many Welsh people are independent-minded, and prefer to govern their own affairs to the extent possible for such a small area. One way to preserve their unique way of life is to preserve their original language. Welsh nearly disappeared at the beginning of the 20th century, but has made a comeback and many non-Welsh speaking parents send their children to Welsh-speaking schools. Counties of WalesWales is divided into counties, also called shires. The ones of interest to me are Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. Both of these are in southwest Wales.
