What Genealogy is Here?
These pages are about my mostly Welsh, English, and Scottish ancestors on my father's side (Morgan, Rees, Jones, and many others), and my English, Scottish, German, and other ancestors on my mother's side (Barnett, Perry, Ostenberg, and many others). Most of them came over from Europe in the 18th to 19th centuries, and most settled (originally, at least) in the Midwest...especially Kansas, Nebraska, and Ohio.Why did I build this site?
I'm hoping people with some of the same ancestors will see this site, and contact me (gmorgan@nettally.com). Besides, building this site is a good way to organize my information...and it's FUN.
Why should you look at more on this site?
· You may be able to learn more about your ancestors.
· You may be able to discover some previously unknown cousins living around the
country--and the world.
· You can share what you know (that others may not know).
Is Everybody Here? It seems to be mostly 19th Century!
In these web pages I am attempting to chronicle mainly just three generations, from my great-great-grandparents down to my grandparents. This is (very) roughly the Nineteenth Century, from shortly after 1820 to soon after the beginning of the 1900s. After I assemble more complete material in these web pages, I will begin to add more material both forward and backward in time.
The Nineteenth Century is a very interesting one, for two reasons. First, for most of this time there begin to be many records available to document the existence of even the simplest of folk. Second, much of the immigration to America from Europe came during this time, so a study of this time can help to bridge the divide between a family's American history and its foreign history.
It is not my intent to provide complete information about these people or places. There is just too much information available to do that. I do hope that by providing an outline of this information I can encourage others with similar interests to contact me for a further exchange of data and ideas.
